Workshop on parton fragmentation processes
in the vacuum and in the medium

ECT* - Trento, February 25-29, 2008

overview

the workshop aims at discussing the physics, experimental results, and perspectives on fragmentation processes in the vacuum (e+e-, ep, pp, p-pbar) and in dense QCD media (e A, p A, A A)

organization

talks and discussions will be organized around the following main topics:

  • Fragmentation functions of light quarks and gluons into hadrons and photons: global fit analyses and experimental constraints;
  • Heavy-quark (charm and bottom) fragmentation: insights from HERA and Tevatron;
  • Fragmentation of jets in MLLA: theoretical developments and experimental studies at high-energy colliders;
  • Di-hadron fragmentation functions;
  • New approaches of medium-modified fragmentation functions from DGLAP or MLLA evolution equations;
  • Experimental aspects of medium-modified fragmentation functions in high-energy nuclear DIS and nucleus-nucleus collisions.

venue

the workshop will take place in the ECT* (European Center for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas) located in Trento (Trentino - Alto Adige, Italy)
